Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. He is the father of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. He has the Nigerian father as well as a Caucasian mother. He graduated in 2010 from Sanderson High School and furthered to Wake Forest University where he completed a bachelor's in economics in 2015. James gained fame when he became a reality television star in The Bachelorette. James was selected to play the role of the new bachelor on The Bachelor season 25, becoming the show's first African American male star. The show premiered later in the year. James's appearance, size and sense of humor were the perfect match to play the role. Rachael Krkconnell was selected as his partner for the entire season. In 2021 he partnered with the famous dancer Arnold to compete in season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold were ranked 12th.
