Matthew Matt James, born 5 December 1991 at North Carolina. He is the father of Manny James and Patty James of mixed race. He is the son of his Nigerian father and a Caucasian woman. In 2010, James graduated in Sanderson High School and furthered into Wake Forest University where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 2015. James made headlines when he appeared on The Bachelorette as a reality television star. James was chosen in 2020 as the new bachelor on The Bachelor season 25, which was the first season to feature an African American male star. The show premiered later in the year. James's looks, height and ability to laugh proved him to be a perfect fit to play the role. Rachael Krakconnell, whom James had picked as his wife to be with for the rest of the season. He partnered with the famous dancing star Arnold in 2021 to compete on the 30th season of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold placed 12th on the show.
